7th Asian Open Water Swimming Championship

The 7th Asian Open Water Swimming Championship took place at Putrajaya Lake in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, on Friday May 19th through to Sunday May 21st.

A total of 11 Asian National Federations comprising of 65 athlete-swimmers have participated in different categories.

For 5km men and women Japan has bagged the gold medals followed by Kazakhstan and Malaysia who won bronze respectively. On the 10km category Malaysia, Kazakhstan, Taipei and Thailand joined the roster of frontrunners. The results are below:

5km men - 21 swimmers (1st Japan, 2nd Japan, 3rd Kazakhstan)
10km men - 23 swimmers (1st Kazakhstan, 2nd Taipei, 3rd Malaysia)
5km women - 18 swimmers (1st Japan, 2nd Japan, 3rd Malaysia)
10km women - 15 swimmers (1st Malaysia, 2nd Kazakhstan, 3rd Thailand)

The event was successfully organized with the help of Amateur Swimming Union of Malaysia, under the supervision of Mr. Ronnie Wong, AASF Technical Open Water chairman.
